Application Processes (Rent-Geared To-Income & Market):

Rent-Geared To-Income (RGI) Applicant:

As Saorsie Co-op is governed by the Housing Services Act, all rent-geared to-income applicants are obtained from the Brant(ford) Access To Housing (BATH) Waitlist.  If you would like to apply for a RGI unit, please contact the City of Brantford and complete an application.  Once your application is submitted to the City, it will be reviewed and added to the BATH waiting list. You will be contacted when you have reached the top of the waiting list.

When a RGI unit is available, Saorsie Co-op will obtain the information of the applicant at the top of the BATH list and will contact the applicant.  If the applicant is interested in the unit, then the applicant must submit a fully completed Co-op application form which can be done in person or via email.

Once you have given the Co-op your completed application form the Co-op will:

  • Interview all applicants applying for membership.

  • Orient the applicant(s) of the requirements and expectations of membership.

  • Collect the required RGI documentation so that a housing charge calculation can be completed.

  • Perform a credit and background check.

  • Make a membership recommendation to the Board of Directors.

  • Inform you of the Board's decision.

If you are approved for membership, the Co-op will:

  • Invite you to view the unit.

  • Advise you of the pre-move requirements (see below).

  • Set a date for move in.
